Saratoga Springs, New York, is synonymous with horses and thoroughbred racing. The Saratoga Race Course is the oldest racetrack and sporting venue in the nation and is home to The Travers, an American Grade I Thoroughbred horse race held every August. First race was in 1864.
Saratoga is also home to fabulous fiberglass horses that dot the city’s busy thoroughfares. Over the years many of these painted equines have been bought by local businesses and are on display as public art. I’m sharing space and time with a handsome steed strategically placed on the front lawn of the Marriott Courtyard on Excelsior Avenue.
